Additional nutritional information required on food and drink labelling in the United Arab Emirates
Trade barrier summary
Regulation GSO 2233:2019 amends the requirements for nutritional labelling on products sold in the UAE. Among the new parameters required are a number which are not standard on UK food packaging at present, including cholesterol, dietary fibre, trans-fats and added sugar. Updating product labelling to include these may lead to additional costs for UK producers, alongside the additional costs of translating amended labels into Arabic.
