Export Health Certificate for pigs for breeding can now be issued to UK agrifood businesses exporting to Brazil
Trade barrier summary
In Brazil, any genetic material - ranging from live animals for reproduction to embryos and seme - needs to comply with sanitary requirements. This compliance is met through a bilateral Export Health Certificate agreement, in which the exporting country agrees to meet in full the sanitary demands from the importing country. For the UK, a certificate for the UK business wanting to export pigs for breeding to the market, can now be authorised by an official veterinary. In Brazil, the legislation referring to this, is Resolution GMC Mercosul n°38/18.
