Pesticides maximum residue limit affecting UK exports of food and drink to South Korea
Trade barrier summary
South Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) introduced a new system for managing pesticide residue in food, called a positive list system. This stipulates that maximum residue limits for some pesticides will be accepted, and for others residue limits need to be below 0.01 parts per million.
This has been specifically designed for South Korean consumers and South Korean agricultural conditions. As such, there are substances that have not yet been registered on the positive list system.
