UK exporters face certification issues for cosmetic products
Trade barrier summary
Under the 'Procedures for Submission of Cosmetic Notifications', previously the Indonesian authorities (BPOM) required a photocopy of the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Certificate issued by government for cosmetics industries located outside of ASEAN countries.
As of June 2021, BPOM agreed to allow an ISO 22716 certificate and Companies House Certification instead of a government issued GMP certificate. This has resolved the barrier for the affected companies.
The UK government does not issue GMP Certificates and production licences, and only issues Certificates of Free Sales (CFS).
