Wrong customs classifications given to renewable power equipment imported into Zimbabwe
Trade barrier summary
Renewable energy products (like solar) are supposed to be duty-free when imported into Zimbabwe.
However, definitions for these products are not clear and there are issues with classification.
For example, batteries are often classified as car batteries and charged accordingly. Duties then have to be reclaimed later. This can result in financial outlays for companies and impede new entries to the market.
