Permit requirements affect UK dairy exports to the United States
Trade barrier summary
This affects UK exporters of dairy products to the United States. Milk and cream may not be imported without a permit from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The wrappers or cartons for these products must be printed with the country of origin.
In addition, there is no shared definition of ‘Grade A’ dairy products. Therefore, product requirements can be subject to change. This may increase costs for UK exporters.
This is because of Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS) and FDA requirements.
