India imposes tariff and duty charges on some ITA products and demonstrators

in India

Trade barrier summary

This affects UK exports of some electronic products. Since 2014, the Government of India has progressively reintroduced customs duties of 10% to 20% on World Trade Organisation (WTO) Information Technology Agreement (ITA) products. ITA products include mobile phones, chargers, adapters, battery packs, cameras, microphones and headsets.

In addition, customs tariffs are being applied to products exported to India for demonstration purposes. These tariffs are rarely refunded. They could be relaxed or waived off, to ease exporting.
