For UK lawyers, the process of obtaining certificates of good standing from PERADI (the Indonesian Advocates Association) can be lengthy, costly and complicated.
Overseas lawyers must also donate 120 hours of pro bono (free) services a year, which is actively enforced by PERADI. This compares with Indonesian lawyers who are required to donate between 30 and 50 hours per year.
