Lengthy approval requirements for UK exports of animal and plant exports into South Korea
Trade barrier summary
Lengthy procedures for animal and plant products make it difficult for UK exporters to enter the South Korean market.
Import requirements are based on a pest risk analysis (PRA) and may take several years. For example, new types or origins of fruits and vegetables are not allowed for import before phytosanitary requirements have been set by the national authorities. Due to limited capacity, only a limited number of applications can be handled at a time.
