UK exports of pharmaceuticals and medical devices to Peru's social security programme
Trade barrier summary
Updated September 2019: DIT successfully worked with Peru to explain the benefits and savings from international purchases of these products, which resulted in an amendment of the related regulations. Now, British companies can sell pharmaceuticals and medical devices directly to the social security programme even if they are not established in Peru.
Previously, regulations only allowed the Peruvian social security programme to buy from 2 sources: Peruvian companies, and foreign companies with an established entity or distributor in Peru. This prevented many UK companies from selling their products to the social security programme.
