Trade barrier summary
In the Japanese car market, the engine type must be stamped or embossed on the engine or casting surface of the engine. For electric and hybrid vehicles it must be provided on the electric motor, despite the risk of damage.
This requirement is in Article 30.2 of the Enforcement Regulations for Road Vehicles Act; Paragraph 2. (2) (Additional Rule 2) of the handling procedure for stamping/embossing of the engine, notification of chassis number or engine types of motor vehicles.
