UK whisky exports potentially affected by Malaysian regulations
Trade barrier summary
Proposals for changes to the Malaysian Food Regulations Act in February 2022 would have excluded most Scotch and Irish whiskies from being marketed as whisky. The UK Government engaged with the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH), and in July 2022 MOH agreed to change the amendment to avoid any impacts on UK imports.
