UK investors blocked from Uganda’s electricity transmission sector
Trade barrier summary
UK investors were unable to invest in Ugandan’s electricity transmission sector due to it being nationalised.
From April 2022 and following UK engagement with the Ugandan Government, a UK investor was able to develop a framework to develop substations as part of a pilot project in the electricity transmission sector. This will make the electricity transmission sector more accessible to UK investors in the future.
