Excise duty exemptions for domestic alcoholic drinks in Argentina
Trade barrier summary
Increased excise duty on alcohol was brought in as a revenue-raising measure by the Argentine Government. This entailed setting the % abv (alcohol by volume) threshold to exempt wine and beer, and de facto mainly apply to alcoholic spirits drinks, which are usually imported or bottled in Argentina by multinational drinks companies. This therefore puts overseas alcoholic drinks exporters at a disadvantage, compared with their domestic counterparts.
