Removal of VAT on electric vehicle exports to Armenia until January 2022

in Armenia

Trade barrier summary

Since 2018, the Post has actively lobbied to the Parliament's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs to exempt the import of electric vehicles from VAT. The lobbying was largely driven by Jaguar Land Rover. The first bill adopted by the government applied only to electric vehicles imported by individuals, but after the Post's and Armenian British Business Chamber’s lobbying, the exemption was also extended to businesses e.g. automotive showrooms, dealers or distributors. In 2019, the parliament passed the amended bill, which will be in force until January 2022.
