The UK Government proposed a new template for a UK Export Health Certificate (EHC) to the Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, following the UK's departure from the European Union. The Hong Kong Food and Environmental Hygiene Department initially responded that the UK could not use the same approach as the EU-Hong Kong harmonized EHC format. In December 2020, Hong Kong adopted the UK’s proposition and granted dual purpose status to UK exports originating from the Republic of Ireland.
