UK notarised documents not recognised in Romania
Trade barrier summary
When UK firms are asked to bring notarised documents in "an authentic form" as per Romanian law, in order to conclude a transaction, they must sign this document in front of a civil law notary public (a service provided at the Romanian Embassy/consulate). The process of authentication followed by a UK notary public is neither identical nor equivalent to that of a civil law notary public, and will not be recognised in Romania as such.
